Frequently Asked Questions

The Yealink SIP-T54W registers up to 16 VoIP accounts, so one desk phone can carry a personal line, a shared team line and the main office number at the same time. There are 10 line keys with LED indicators, and each key can be programmed across three pages to give 27 shortcuts in total for colleagues, queues, speed dials or busy lamp field monitoring, which shows at a glance who is free and who is on a call. Conference calls run with up to 10 people, and the local phonebook holds 1000 contacts with LDAP or XML directory lookup on top. That capacity suits managers, office administrators, receptionists and anyone fielding several calls in a day.

Yes, both are built in and no extra dongle is needed. Dual-band Wi-Fi covers 2.4GHz and 5GHz on IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n at speeds up to 433Mbps, so this Yealink SIP phone works at desks with no data point and in offices where running new cable would mean lifting floors. The 5GHz band helps in busy buildings where the 2.4GHz channels are congested. Bluetooth 4.2 pairs a wireless headset and a mobile phone at the same time, syncs mobile contacts across to the handset and lets you take mobile calls through the desk speaker and handset. Two gigabit Ethernet ports remain available where a wired connection is preferred.

Yes. The phone takes Power over Ethernet to IEEE 802.3af class 3, drawing only 2.2W to 5.5W in normal use, which is modest across a full office of handsets. One cable then carries both the network connection and the power, keeping desks tidy and removing the need for a spare plug socket at every position. The second gigabit port passes the connection through to a PC, so one data point per desk is enough in most offices. The mains adapter is an optional extra, worth ordering when your network switch does not supply PoE.

The T54W is the audio-first model and the T58W is the video model. The T54W has an adjustable 4.3-inch colour display with real physical line keys, which many people prefer for fast dialling, transfers and picking up a ringing colleague without hunting through a screen. The T58W runs Android on a 7-inch touchscreen and includes the CAM50 camera for 720p video calls. Both share 16 accounts, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, gigabit Ethernet and PoE, so the deciding question is simply whether the desk needs video. Choose the T54W where clear voice calls, speed of use and a lower price matter most.

Yes. The USB 2.0 port takes a standard USB flash drive for local call recording, so a manager can keep a copy of a call without any extra software. Centralised recording through a compatible hosted PBX is also supported where your provider offers it. The same USB port handles wired and wireless USB headsets, the EHS40 wireless headset adapter, Yealink CP900 and CP700 speakerphones, and up to three EXP50 colour-screen expansion modules for reception desks needing more keys. Check your obligations on notifying callers first, as consent rules apply to call recording in Ireland.

The T54W is a standard SIP VoIP phone supporting SIP v1 and v2, so it registers with most hosted platforms and on-premise systems without extra software or licences. Business features are well covered. Security is handled with TLS 1.3, SRTP for voice, WPA2 and WPA3, and VPN support. Auto provisioning through PnP, Zero-sp-touch, TR-069 or HTTPS lets a provider configure the phone remotely before delivery, so staff plug it in and start working. Pulse Telecom pre-provisions these for its own cloud platform and can confirm compatibility with a system you already run.

Yes. Adding the DD10K DECT dongle turns the T54W into a base for up to four cordless handsets with four concurrent calls, working with the W52H, W53H, W56H, DD Phone and CP930W. That gives cover to staff moving around a shop, workshop, storeroom or salon while keeping one extension number, so callers do not need a second number to reach them. The cordless handsets act as slave handsets to the desk phone, meaning a call can be answered on either. Handsets are ordered separately, which lets you start with one desk phone and expand as the team grows.
