What Is a Hosted PBX / Cloud PBX?

A Hosted PBX, also known as a Cloud PBX, is a business phone system where all call management and routing is handled securely in the cloud rather than on physical hardware in your office. Instead of maintaining an on-site PBX system, your business connects to a professionally managed cloud platform over the internet.

This approach gives you access to enterprise-grade phone features such as auto attendants, extensions, call queues and reporting without the cost, complexity or maintenance of traditional PBX equipment. Calls can be answered on IP desk phones, mobiles or desktop apps, making Hosted PBX ideal for hybrid, remote and growing businesses.

Key points:

 No on-site PBX hardware required

Runs securely over your internet connection

Works with desk phones, mobiles and softphones

Easy to scale users and features as you grow

Why Irish Businesses Choose Hosted & Cloud PBX

Hosted PBX solutions remove the limitations of traditional phone systems while giving businesses greater flexibility, reliability and control.

Lower total cost compared to maintaining on-premise PBX hardware

Scalable by design add or remove users instantly

Remote & hybrid ready with calls answered anywhere

Business continuity built-in no single point of failure on-site

Professional call handling with IVR, queues and routing

Future-proof platform with ongoing updates and improvements

With a Hosted PBX, your phone system grows with your business. Whether you’re opening a new location, hiring remote staff or increasing call volumes, your system adapts without costly upgrades or disruption.

Preparation and Network Checks

Verify Internet Speed: Use a tool like Speedtest.net to ensure you have at least 100 Kbps of upload and download bandwidth per concurrent call.

Assess Hardware Needs: You decide if you will use a softphone (app on your current phone/laptop) or physical IP hardware (desk phones).

Choosing a Plan

Compare Features: decide what features are important to you like; call summaries, auto-attendants, and mobile app integration.

Select a Plan: we can offer tiered monthly subscriptions with per-user pricing or an all you can eat package.

The Signup

Create an Account: Simply provide your name, business email, and billing information.

Select or Port a Number:

  • New Number: Choose a local, toll-free, or exclusive number for your business
  • Porting: If keeping your old number, we can move it from your old provider so you can have it on the new system. Note that porting typically takes between 1 and 3 business days. In the meantime we can maintain full operations via a number divert for business continuity.

Configuration - don't worry, we do this for you!

Download Software: Install our Softphone apps on your desktop or mobile device. Sign in using your new credentials.

Set Up User Profiles: Add team members by entering their emails and assigning specific extensions and permissions.

Configure Call Flows: Set up how calls are routed (e.g., ringing multiple phones simultaneously or directing to an after-hours voicemail).

Hardware Setup (Optional)

Supply & Install: For physical desk phones, connect an Ethernet cable from your router to the phone's LAN port.

Wireless Headsets: pick a model and we pair it with your deskphone or Softphone App

Testing & Go-Live

Test Calls: We work with you to call your new number from an external phone to check for audio clarity, echoing, or delays.

Verify Features: Ensure that voicemail-to-email, call forwarding, and mobile notifications are functioning as expected.
