Hosted PBX & Cloud PBX Solutions for Irish Businesses

What Is a Hosted PBX / Cloud PBX?

A Hosted PBX, also known as a Cloud PBX, is a business phone system where all call management and routing is handled securely in the cloud rather than on physical hardware in your office. Instead of maintaining an on-site PBX system, your business connects to a professionally managed cloud platform over the internet.

This approach gives you access to enterprise-grade phone features such as auto attendants, extensions, call queues and reporting without the cost, complexity or maintenance of traditional PBX equipment. Calls can be answered on IP desk phones, mobiles or desktop apps, making Hosted PBX ideal for hybrid, remote and growing businesses.

Key points:

 No on-site PBX hardware required

Runs securely over your internet connection

Works with desk phones, mobiles and softphones

Easy to scale users and features as you grow

Why Irish Businesses Choose Hosted & Cloud PBX

Hosted PBX solutions remove the limitations of traditional phone systems while giving businesses greater flexibility, reliability and control.

Lower total cost compared to maintaining on-premise PBX hardware

Scalable by design add or remove users instantly

Remote & hybrid ready with calls answered anywhere

Business continuity built-in no single point of failure on-site

Professional call handling with IVR, queues and routing

Future-proof platform with ongoing updates and improvements

With a Hosted PBX, your phone system grows with your business. Whether you’re opening a new location, hiring remote staff or increasing call volumes, your system adapts without costly upgrades or disruption.

Preparation and Network Checks

Verify Internet Speed: Use a tool like Speedtest.net to ensure you have at least 100 Kbps of upload and download bandwidth per concurrent call.

Assess Hardware Needs: You decide if you will use a softphone (app on your current phone/laptop) or physical IP hardware (desk phones).

Choosing a Plan

Compare Features: decide what features are important to you like; call summaries, auto-attendants, and mobile app integration.

Select a Plan: we can offer tiered monthly subscriptions with per-user pricing or an all you can eat package.

The Signup

Create an Account: Simply provide your name, business email, and billing information.

Select or Port a Number:

  • New Number: Choose a local, toll-free, or exclusive number for your business
  • Porting: If keeping your old number, we can move it from your old provider so you can have it on the new system. Note that porting typically takes between 1 and 3 business days. In the meantime we can maintain full operations via a number divert for business continuity.

Configuration - don't worry, we do this for you!

Download Software: Install our Softphone apps on your desktop or mobile device. Sign in using your new credentials.

Set Up User Profiles: Add team members by entering their emails and assigning specific extensions and permissions.

Configure Call Flows: Set up how calls are routed (e.g., ringing multiple phones simultaneously or directing to an after-hours voicemail).

Hardware Setup (Optional)

Supply & Install: For physical desk phones, connect an Ethernet cable from your router to the phone's LAN port.

Wireless Headsets: pick a model and we pair it with your deskphone or Softphone App

Testing & Go-Live

Test Calls: We work with you to call your new number from an external phone to check for audio clarity, echoing, or delays.

Verify Features: Ensure that voicemail-to-email, call forwarding, and mobile notifications are functioning as expected.

A PBX (Private Branch Exchange) phone system is the engine behind your business calls. It connects your team's phones together internally and manages how incoming and outgoing calls are handled. Done things like routing calls to the right department, managing hold queues, and setting up voicemail. With Pulse, your PBX lives in the cloud, so there's no bulky equipment on-site and no maintenance headaches.
A hosted phone system (also called a hosted PBX or cloud PBX) means your business phone system runs on secure servers in the cloud. Pulse manages everything remotely such as call routing, extensions, voicemail, and features. Your team just plugs in an IP desk phone, opens a mobile app, or uses a softphone on their laptop, and they're live. No on-site hardware to maintain.
A traditional PBX system is a physical box that is expensive to install, costly to maintain, and difficult to scale. A Cloud PBX does exactly the same job but runs entirely over the internet. Pulse telecom hosts and manages everything on your behalf. You get all the enterprise features (IVR menus, call queues, call recording, extensions) without the upfront hardware investment or ongoing maintenance. If your internet goes down, calls can automatically divert to mobiles, so there's no single point of failure.
Yes. Pulse is an Irish-owned company headquartered in Dublin, and our hosted and cloud PBX service is available to businesses throughout Ireland. Whether you're based in Dublin, Cork, Galway, or anywhere in between, our team can set you up and provide ongoing local support. We also support multi-site businesses running under one unified phone system across different locations.
There's no minimum. Our cloud PBX works for a one-person operation just as well as a 200-seat contact centre. Pricing is per user, so you only pay for what you need. As your team grows, adding extensions takes minutes. No hardware upgrades needed. Whether you have 2 users today and plan to hire 20 more next year, the system scales with you at no extra complexity.
Absolutely, it's one of the biggest reasons Irish businesses move to cloud PBX. Your team can make and receive business calls from anywhere using the Pulse mobile app, a desktop softphone, or a physical IP desk phone at home. They'll appear under your main business number and have access to all the same features.
Most businesses are live within a day or two of signing up. Pulse handles the full configuration, so you don't need to be technical. If you order hardware from us, phones come pre-configured and are ready to plug in. If you're porting your existing number, that usually takes 1-3 business days, and we keep calls diverting to your team in the meantime so there's no interruption.
Yes. We can port your existing number to the Pulse hosted PBX platform, so your clients always reach you on the same number they know. Number porting typically takes 1-3 business days. During that window, we set up a call divert from your old number so your business keeps running without any missed calls.
Not necessarily. If you already have SIP-compatible IP phones, we can check whether they'll work with the Pulse platform. If you need new hardware, we stock a full range of Yealink desk phones, DECT handsets, WiFi phones, conference phones, and headsets. You can also use softphone apps on your existing laptops and mobiles.
Our hosted PBX includes auto attendants (IVR), call queues, ring groups, extensions, shared company directory, voicemail-to-email, business hours routing, after-hours call handling, and multi-device calling across desk phones, mobiles, and softphones. Advanced features like call recording, detailed analytics, CRM integrations, and custom call flows can be added at any time. You're never locked into a fixed feature set.
Because Pulse is a cloud-based PBX system, calls aren't dependent on a single piece of office hardware. If your internet connection has an issue, calls can be automatically diverted to mobile numbers or other backup destinations you define in advance. There's no single point of failure on-site, which is one of the key advantages a hosted PBX has.
Yes. The Pulse platform is built to meet Irish and EU data protection requirements, including GDPR. Call data and recordings are handled securely, and our platform uses enterprise-grade security standards. We understand the compliance obligations our customers face and build our infrastructure accordingly.
Pulse offers tiered monthly subscriptions priced per user, so you only pay for active seats. There's no large upfront capital outlay for hardware or licences. The exact price depends on the number of users and the features you need. The best way to get an accurate figure is to request a quote, and we'll put together a plan tailored to your business.
Pulse has a dedicated Ireland-based support team available by phone (+353 1 862 3300) and email (support@pulse.ie), as well as a help centre for self-service. You're dealing with a local team who understand the Irish market. We've been serving Irish businesses for over 25 years, and ongoing support is part of what we do.
